Can’t wait to breathe that mountain air

Well, it’s another cold, dreary day in south Alabama. Ugly gray clouds cover the sky and the wind is so biting it takes your breath away. All I want to do is crawl back in bed and hibernate until the sun decides to stick around for awhile. Wake me up when the grass is green, ok? I’ll gladly leave the house when the lake is warm enough to swim in again.

You know what days like these are good for? Nothing. HA! Sorry, I’m kidding.  No… days like these are perfect for daydreaming. And currently on my mind? My summer trip to Montana, of course. I’ve been working out all of the details with the travel lady and each new email in my inbox brings a smile to my face. The dates have been set and all of my lodging has been reserved. It’s all coming together and I can’t wait to be on a plane heading for Kalispell.

I’ll spend the entire week inside Glacier National Park. One night on Lake McDonald, two at Glacier Park Lodge and three in a cabin on the west side of the park. I’m already picturing gorgeous, sun-filled days. Wandering through the mountains on various trails. Kayaking. Fishing. Soaking up each moment and savoring God’s creation around me.

I’m especially stoked about this one thing she booked for me. It’s called a saddle and paddle. I’ll spend the morning on a trail ride, take a short lunch break, then gear up for an afternoon of whitewater rafting on the Flathead River. How awesome is that? Pretty stinkin’ awesome, if you ask me.

Just thinking about it makes this blustery winter day a little easier to handle.

Wow. Sounds like a great trip. Have some fun for me while I’m stuck at work. And you told me your life wasn’t exciting. Summer will be here before you know it, and then it sounds like you’ll be out looking at the bright side of things all the time. Great post!

Mountains in the summer are great – not too hot and a great escape from the baking of the lowlands. But my dreams tend toward Hawaii and other islands during these cold and drear months.

    Enjoy your trip!

  3. Looks good from this angle.

I loved Montana when I was there! You’ll have tons of fun.

BTW–I followed your blog when you were still on Blogspot, and I just switched over to WordPress. Happy to be reading again!

it is good you are going in the summer because I just talked to my brother (who lives in Montana) and it is -25 today! Glacier is amazing, isn’t it? I need to get back there but I have such mixed feeling about it now because that is where my dad died. I’m hoping to go with my brother to help scatter my dad’s ashes. What a lovely place to be “at rest’ huh?
